Project Overview

In a stream of continuous growth of information exchange by means of World Wide Web one of the most popular services that has recently emerged is gathering, classification and providing to the Internet users information with respect to business organizations and other institutions working in the region of interest. Our team has participated in development of such service for Central Macedonia Chamber of Greece. The entire system is characterized by user-friendly interface, integration of company profiles with geographic data, and functionality satisfying most censorious user’s requirements.

The GIS part of the systems is available at http://gis.gbi.gr

Although the entire system has been initially designed to provide multiple language support, it currently supports Greek only.

Functional Overview

The system allows user to:

• Obtain different geographic, administrative and business information related to entire Greece, Central Macedonia and the most important cities in the region
• Obtain descriptive information about municipal units of Central Macedonia cities
• filter this information by the wide set of criteria
• Look up companies by their geographic location and other related parameters
• Obtain a company profile by clicking on company icon on a map
• Use zoom, pan and other tools for efficient navigation on a map.
