Another example of GIS application, which has been implemented by members of our team,
is NTMS 2000 created for Holland Institute of Traffic Technology. This is
a noise-monitoring system for airports. The system combines radar
tracking of aircrafts flying around, arriving and departing
to airports with the results of noise monitoring in airport area.
Functional Overview
The NTMS 2000 system has the following features:
- Advanced user interface based on MapInfo GIS ActiveX control and MS Access
allows to review aircraft tracks in three dimensions and their correlation
with noise events along trace on airport area map in dynamic
- Up to three tracks can be monitored in the separate windows that display
all available information related to the aircrafts including their coordinates in dynamic
- Each noise monitor is displayed with column diagram representing
current noise level in different colors according to predefined thresholds
- Extended configuration dialog allows to select aircrafts’
tracks filtering (direction, height, ownership, etc) method and style of their
representation (colors, line type, label)
- NTMS 2000 works in real time mode as well as reproduce archive data
- NTMS 2000 provides various reports based on data collected in Oracle database
- NTMS 2000 receives radar data directly from radar via socket connection
- NTMS 2000 gets noise data portions from noise monitoring terminal devices by scheduled connections
